The department of Cardiothoracic surgery provides comprehensive care for all patients requiring open and closed cardiac surgeries , thoracic surgeries and vascular surgeries. It is equipped with specialized equipments such as Intra - Aortic Balloon Pump and the most recent version of the heart –lung machine

The department has developed several innovative surgical techniques and has earned a reputation for its superior surgical outcomes and compassionate patient care. While adult patients with complications of coronary artery disease make for much of the numbers , a substantial number of adult thoracic surgeries, thoracic and abdominal aneurysm repairs, and congenital heart defect repairs also performed.

Special programmes such as lung cancer awareness programme, post CABG rehabilitation programme and vascular clinic for prevention and early detection of peripheral vascular diseases are held periodically.
