The department of Gastroenterology provides a diagnostic and treatment source for patients referred for gastrointestinal, hepatic, biliary, pancreatic and nutritional problems. The department is well equipped with upper and lower GI endoscopy,ERCP,Argon plasma coagulator and manometry to carry out diagnostic and complex therapeutic procedures such as, treatment of varices, insertion of stents for obstructive lesions, extraction of bile duct calculi, drainage of pseudocyst , balloon dilatation of achalasia /strictures etc. A special clinic - paediatric gastroenterology, is also conducted. Excellent clinical work, multidisciplinary education and collaborative research offer the students (postgraduate in particular), an unprecedented academic fervour.
