The department of Medicine caters to the medical problems through a busy outpatient service throughout the week. Medical students are trained to acquire basic clinical skills in medicine both through inpatients and outpatients. Inpatient services include 4 sophisticated intensive care units viz., Medical Intensive Care, Intensive Respiratory Care, Intensive Coronary Care and Intermediate Medical Care. To familiarize the students with medical emergencies, they are given residential posting after working hours at casuality and intensive care units. Interns are trained to manage medical problems and perform procedures under supervision. The department is a recognized postgraduate training centre since 2001. Academic activities include regular presentations, journal clubs, seminars, symposia and weekly physicians meetings.

The department also conducts special clinics such as Diabetic clinic and Geriatric clinic with emphasis on life style management.
