The department of Nephrology is equipped to handle various types of acute and chronic renal diseases. There are ten recent versions of haemodialysis machines backed up with an excellent water treatment reverse osmosis plant, and skilled technicians. It is also equipped to perform other forms of dialysis viz., Intermittent peritoneal dialysis, Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis and Continuous Arteriovenous Haemodiafiltration. The department performs renal biopsies for accurate diagnosis. Plasmapheresis and charcoal haemoperfusion are performed in special clinical settings. Facilities to do MARS (Molecular Absorption Recirculating System), combined from of kidney and liver dialysis, is unique to this department.

The department has an excellent Renal Transplantation unit supported by competent team of doctors and dedicated paramedical personnel. Undergraduate and postgraduate students of medicine are benefitted by the variety of clinical material available.
