The department of Orthopaedics has facilities to deal with the complete range of Orthopaedic problems. Special clinics exist for problems related to spine, paediatric orthopaedics and sports medicine. Arthroscopy and Ilizarov procedures are other special features. Total hip, knee and other major joint replacement surgeries, closed interlocking nailing, spinal stabilisation and microdisectomy are carried out. The department is ably augmented by a well - equipped Physiotherapy , Occupational therapy and Orthotic & Prosthetic units.
Sophisticated equipments such as image intensifier – C – arm with twin monitors, ultramodern electronic fracture table, high quality pneumatic and electric instruments and modern operating microscopes are the forte of this department. All types of modern, state-of-the-art fracture fixations are undertaken routinely.
There is a trauma team available round the clock with a full fledged multispeciality support. The department offers postgraduate programmes since 2001.
